How do you know when a Viking oven is preheated?

Why the light comes back on
The lamp follows the thermostat, not the clock. Viking’s gas range service manuals describe it as lit while the oven calls for heat and then cycling on and off with the thermostat, so a lamp that relights mid-bake is the oven holding temperature.
Viking’s own baking advice is the same: preheat until the oven indicator light goes out, then put the food in.
