VGSO166 36-inch gas single wall oven
F2, open probe: the oven temperature sensor circuit is open; the listed fix is a new sensor.

DSOE301SS, DDOE301SS and DDOE305SS electric wall ovens (EOC4 control)
F02, RTD: the oven sensor reads open or shorted; power down and replace or reconnect it.

Remember when F2 first showed: from a cold start, or partway through a bake.
pass cold start: the circuit was broken before any heat fail mid-bake: note the setting you had chosen

Cut power at the breaker for a minute, restore it, then start a bake.
pass no code: confirm with a thermometer on the centre rack fail F2 again straight away: stop, the sensor needs testing

Sensor first, board later
Both service manuals send this code to the sensor, not the board. The EOC4 table writes it F02.
On the VGSO166 a sound sensor reads about 1,100 ohms at 75°F; an open one reads infinite on a meter, a test made with the oven powered down.
Stop and call if
- F2 comes back every time power is restored, even after the one breaker reset.
- The oven ran far hotter than its setting, or stayed cold, before the code appeared.
- Once cleared, the oven still runs well off its setting: a calibration question.

Can the oven still bake with F2 showing?
No. On EOC4 ovens F02 is a priority A fault, which cancels the cycle and switches every element off. On the VGSO166 the control has no working temperature reading to steer by. Viking Repair Redmond, (425) 585-2373, tests the sensor on an $89 visit.
Is F2 the same fault as F1?
Related but not identical on the VGSO166: F1 is a shorted probe, F2 an open one, and the manual's fix for F2 is a new sensor. On EOC4 ovens F01 is the door latch, a different part entirely, while F02 covers both an open and a shorted sensor.
